2 Day Introductory Hang gliding Course

Course Dates

This introductory course is designed to give the aspiring pilot a detailed insight into hang gliding as a sport, and the principles of flight as they pertain to hang gliding. Over two days this course will introduce you to Light Flight, its facilities, equipment and instruction techniques.

We will teach you basic handling skills in launching and landing a hang glider, pitch and roll control, glider and equipment set up, ground handling, simulator work and instructor assisted flights. You will be guided through classroom theory, videos and an overview of the Hang Gliding Federation of Australia (HGFA) requirements to become a pilot.

This 2 day Introductory course includes:
Uses of all Light Flight's equipment.
30 minute trail flight (Microlight)*
Basic training on Light Flight's specially designed trailer
Theory of flight.

At the conclusion of your 2 day Introductory course, if you think that Hang gliding is for you then you can go on to complete the full HGFA Restricted Hang gliding course. **The cost of the Introductory course will be deducted from the Restricted Pilot Certificate course.

Who can learn to fly
Anyone in good health with no disabilities that would prevent them from obtaining a drivers license. The minimum age is 14 years old, and parental or guardian consent is required until the age of 18.
